A guide to what we do,
how we do it, & what it costs.

In a nutshell: Piers takes wedding pictures that have been summed up as ‘casual perfection’. Coverage of a wedding, including album, with a service that exceeds your expectations is charged at £1450.

THE SECRET TO SUCCESSFUL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

A wedding is a highly emotional experience and it follows that the photography should reflect this. However, the traditional approach does not do the day justice as the photographer creates artificial emotion in the photographs by creating artificial poses that attempt to convey emotion.

This has been the tried and tested route wedding photographers have traditionally followed and passed as acceptable wedding photography for years. The results may well have the look of ‘the perfect day’ but do these pictures capture true emotion as remembered?

Piers believes that the best photographs are those that show true emotion, capturing genuinely intimate moments that the couple experience and have shared with their guests.
Piers understands the importance of getting to know his clients as well as he possibly can before the wedding in order to get close to this reality. It is about building a relationship that starts as soon as the commission is booked and builds over time so as to be sure that everyone approaches the day relaxed and reassured.

BRINGING THE RELATIONSHIP CLOSER

The pre-wedding shoot that Piers will arrange for you is an important part of the preparation process. It gives him the opportunity to see how his clients react to the camera. More importantly, it reassures clients with flattering results, confirming they are in safe hands. This is important as it brings the relationship closer, giving Piers an insight into his clients’ personalities whilst clients gain a closer understanding of what to expect on wedding day. The results are analysed together. From this point the photography brief starts to build.

NOTHING LEFT TO CHANCE

About a month before the wedding, Piers will want to sit down with his clients and go through the wedding day in detail, ensuring things like proposed timings are realistic. All aspects are discussed, concluding with a final tuning of the way the photography is to be incorporated into the proceedings.

THE WEDDING DAY

The wedding day photography offers a blend of colour with black and white photography whilst drawing on a mix of photographic styles. Piers usually starts in the morning with an initial visit to the bride’s house to photograph preparations but could equally be capturing the groom with his friends.

Piers’ attitude to the wedding itself is that he feels his clients should be treated like royalty. This means no keys, mobile phones, lists or even money to worry about. A well-planned wedding will ensure the bridal party understand their responsibilities and look after the bride & groom correctly. Good liaison with these important guests is crucial to Piers’ way of thinking.

The usual finishing time for photography is when the wedding breakfast gets underway. As this happens, final photo opportunities are found in the oddest of places, such as in the kitchen or on the bouncy castle! the number of pictures taken on the day is always unlimited.

SHARING THE DAY WITH YOUR FRIENDS

An edit of the day's shoot will usually result in about 200 pictures. This selection is then posted into the viewing gallery of Piers’ website where the images can be viewed at any time. Images in the viewing gallery will stay online for at least 12 months. There is the option to password protect individual client's pages if required.

A proof catalogue and slideshow CD of these pictures is also supplied to the bride & groom. The slideshow CD is time-limited to two months. The proof catalogue contains inkjet reference images for clients to keep.

The website becomes a central point where wedding imagery can be shared with guests and has the added advantage of offering the opportunity of reprint purchases directly online.

DESIGNING THE WEDDING ALBUM

Compiling the wedding album is a collaborative process. Once final decisions have been made about which images are to be included in the album, Piers’ partner, Helen will design a layout to best tell the story of the day. She will liase about layout styles and ideas if required.

The aim is to create a unique storybook, presenting the images in a flow of mixed sizes and juxtapositions, each image carefully cropped and tweaked to ensure the very best results, both technically and aesthetically.
The final result is a beautiful wedding album you will cherish forever.
